Melissa Pomfred worked at Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts for over 4 years before the program joined with Western Massachusetts Legal Services to form Community Legal Aid in 2011. Melissa is a Staff Attorney in the Benefits and Employment unit, where she handles employment related issues, including discrimination, leave act violations, wage and hour violations and unemployment compensation claims. Melissa also litigates housing discrimination cases in court and before administrative agencies. Prior to joining CLA, Melissa worked in private practice representing clients in litigation of employment issues, including discrimination and workers’ compensation. While attending law school, Melissa spent a year as President of the Unemployment Action Center, where she coordinated the overall operation of an organization that provided free legal assistance to claimants in the unemployment process. Before attending law school, she spent 4 years coordinating the education programs at Boston’s Homeless Services. Melissa is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
